VM Fresh Install

Preconditions​

Ensure you have these items on hand first:

  • Your rWeb backup

Procedure​

  1. If you intend to use your new instance at the same management address as an existing rWeb, power down the existing rWeb. Your filter devices will continue to run and filter traffic based on their current settings.
  2. Install a new 10.0 rWeb VM. If you are migrating from a single hardware rWeb to a VM rWeb, this new installation should be provisioned equivalently to your existing deployment with at least 25% free disk space compared to the live rWeb (50% would be ideal).
  3. Once the new rWeb VM is running, log in with the default user and password (admin/admin123) and reload your backup. Your browser may refuse to connect to rWeb because of HSTS. In this case you'll need to clear your browser's HSTS settings for rWeb temporarily in order to restore the backup.
  4. Email support@riorey.com with the old and new serial numbers of your rWebs so we can transfer your license. 10.0 VMs will come up with a temporary one week license so if this was not done ahead of time you have up to a week after this procedure to get your license.
